Stephanie Arely Zacatares

Stephanie Arely Zacatares is a 2019 Compton College Presidential Scholar. She graduated form Compton College with an associate degree in June 2019 and a cumulative GPA of 3.61. She is a sociology major who plans to transfer to UC Santa Barbara followed by law school. Zacatares aspires to be an immigration lawyer in her future career. She is an advocate for immigrant family rights and volunteers by advocating for legislation with the Temporary Protected Alliance at the Central American Resource Center in Los Angeles. She never thought she would have the opportunity to transfer to a four-year university. "I have had extraordinary advisors and counselors at Compton College that have motivated me to transfer," said Zacatares. "Thanks to Compton College, I can now say that I have a brighter future in academia and a strong support system that is rooting in my favor."
