Interested in becoming a tutor?

Are you passionate about helping students succeed? The Student Success Center (SSC) is seeking dedicated and supportive tutors to help students strengthen their understanding of course material, build confidence, and develop effective learning strategies. If you enjoy helping others learn and want to make a positive impact on student success, we encourage you to apply!

Qualifications

Completed at least one semester of college coursework
Earned an A or B in the subject to be tutored
Currently enrolled in at least 6 units, or possess a completed degree in a related field
Provide proof of enrollment (or transcript if graduated)

Responsibilities

Provide both individual and group assistance to assigned students in an established tutorial program
Utilize prescribed materials and supplies as related to individual student needs
Support diverse learning styles
Generate ideas, materials, strategies, and collaborative learning techniques to help students better understand course material
Follow Student Success Center tutoring procedures

How to Apply

You must fill out an SSC Tutor Application Form and, if you are a current Compton College student, have a faculty member complete the Faculty Recommendation Form. Additionally, your application packet must include a copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial), class schedule, and Resume. Please submit your completed application packet to any full time staff member in the SSC, or email all forms to the Interim SSC Coordinator - Elizabeth Monterroza emonterrozaperez@compton.edu
