Application Deadlines

There are 2 deadlines to apply for the FYE Program:

Priority Deadline - Sunday, May 17th: Recommended for students who want to participate in the FYE Summer Program (July 2026)
    • FYE Orientation: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Final Deadline - Sunday, August 16th: For students transitioning directly into Fall 2026
    • FYE Orientation: Wednesday, August 19, 2026 (New Student Welcome Day) 


What Happens After you Apply?


Once you submit your FYE Program Application, you'll receive a follow-up email within one to two weeks letting you know whether you qualify for the program. From there, you'll receive next steps regarding your FYE Orientation and/or The FYE Summer Program details.

PLEASE NOTE:
    • Students who apply after the May 17th priority deadline may not be eligible to participate in The FYE Summer Program. 
    • Students who apply after the August 16th final deadline may not be able to officially join the FYE Program for Fall 2026.

  • FYE Steps to Enrollment

    To make sure you follow all necessary steps to become a FYE student after applying to Compton College:

    STEP #1: Apply for the FYE Program through our application

    STEP #2:
    Complete your ID verification with Admissions and Records

    STEP #3:
    Complete New Student Orientation via MyCompton Portal

    STEP #4:
    Apply for Financial Aid (either FAFSA or CA Dream Act application)

    STEP #5: Attend the Mandatory FYE Orientation (to activate your status as an FYE student)

    STEP #6: Meet with an FYE Counselor to: build your Student Educational Plan and sign the FYE Contract

    STEP #7: Register for your Summer 2026 class (if participating in the FYE Summer Program) and your Fall 2026 classes

    STEP #8: Apply for the Oliver W. Connor Promise Program, EOPS/Care/NextUp, CalWorks, and/or Special Resource Center (if eligible for their programs)

    STEP #9: Accept and enroll into the FYE Canvas Hub (all FYE related information will be available throughout the academic year and you will receive an invitation through your Compton student email)

    Completing these steps before the Fall semester will help make your transition into your first semester smooth and stress-free. Be sure to complete each one!
