What is Academic Progress Notice?
Academic Notice (formerly academic warning): You will be placed on academic progress notice (formerly academic warning) if the student has earned a cumulative grade-point average below (2.0).
Progress Notice: You will be placed on progress notice (formerly progress warning) if the student has enrolled in a total of at least 12 semester units and the percentage of all units in which the student has enrolled, for which entries of "W", "I", "NC", and "NP" were recorded reaches or exceeds 50 percent.
Academic & Progress Pause
If you are on academic progress notice, you will be subject to academic & progress pause (formerly dismissal) if you have earned a cumulative grade-point average below 2.0 in all units attempted in each of three consecutive terms. If you are on academic progress notice (formerly probation), you will be subject to an academic & progress pause if the percentage of cumulative units in which you have enrolled for which entries of "W", "I", "NC", and "NP"/(NC)" are recorded in three consecutive terms reaches or exceeds fifty percent.

We want every student to be academically successful; therefore, it is important that
you follow the steps below.
Placement of Academic Notice (Formerly Probation Level 1)
1. Attend a Placement of Academic Notice (Formerly Probation Level 1) Workshop.
1. Attend a Placement of Academic Notice (Formerly Probation Level 1) Workshop and
a Placement of Academic Progress Notice (Formerly Probation Level 2) Workshop.
2. Complete the Academic Restart Contract (Formerly Academic Resiliency)
Additionally, you will complete the Academic Restart Contract, and the counselor will
recommend the appropriate resources needed to be successful.

workshops. If you are on academic & progress pause, please promptly submit all corresponding documents and the Academic Restart Contract
to the Dean of Counseling.
1. Attend a Placement of Academic Warning (Formerly Probation Level 1) Workshop and
a Placement of Academic Hold (Formerly Probation Level 2) Workshop
2. Complete the Academic Restart Contract (Formerly Academic Resiliency)
3. Complete the Academic Restart Appeal Form (Formerly Dismissal Appeal Form). All Academic Restart Appeal Forms must be submitted to the Interim Dean of Counseling
& Guided Pathways, Dr. Maria Garcia, mgarcia74@compton.edu, and cc Senior Administrative Assistant of Counseling, Kimberly Escobar, at kescobar3@compton.edu.Once reviewed, you will be notified of your appeal.
If you have been dismissed, you may return to the college after "sitting out" one
semester, or based on documented extenuating circumstances, may submit an appeal for
reinstatement.
Summer 2026 WORKSHOP CALENDAR
Workshops are scheduled every first & third Tuesdays of the month from 1:00pm - 2:00pm & every second and fourth Tuesdays from 3:00pm - 4:00pm and Thursdays from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Please register in advance and select the workshop level that is appropriate for you.Starting Fall 2026, Placement of Academic Notice (formerly Probation Level 1 ) Workshop will be moved from Thursdays to Wednesdays. The timeframe will remain the same.
- Registration and attendance link are provided below. Be sure to review the workshop descriptions carefully before signing up to ensure you the select the correct one.
- Punctuality is required: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will not be admitted and will have to reschedule for another time.
- What to bring: You will need to provide your Compton College ID to the counselor.
