Welcome to the First Year Experience (FYE) Program
Kickstart your college journey the right way—by joining this program at Compton College, where success starts from day one!
What is this Program?
Compton College’s First Year Experience program is designed to prepare you for a smooth
transition into community college for the first time. Whether you are transitioning
from high school or just beginning your college education for the first time, the
college process can present with challenges that require multiple adjustments that
best fit for you. Sometimes even getting the process started can be overwhelming,
while also learning how to take ownership of your own education. We want to emphasize
that this program is designed to support you during those first steps as you enter
Compton College and how we can assist you during that first year.
Throughout this program, you will learn more about how to be a successful student
in your own way. You will gain the knowledge on how to access and navigate campus
and college resources; interact with other students and campus employees; develop
important academic skills for success; have access to meet with a specialized FYE
counselor and Student Services Advisors; learn how to navigate the electronic systems
on campus, such as email, internet, and library databases, and so much more.
