Sam Agdasi,
Dean of Student Learning

We are excited to welcome Sam Agdasi as the new Dean of Student Learning at Compton Community College District. Sam brings over 20 years of leadership and instructional experience in academic and technical education across California and the Midwest.  Sam holds an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University.

Most recently, Sam served as Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Academic Affairs at Southwestern College, leading seven academic schools, three higher education centers, and multiple student success and workforce development initiatives. Previous roles include Vice President of Academic Services at Highland Community College and Dean of Technology and Health at Mt. San Antonio College. At Ivy Tech Community College, Sam launched and led the first ATMAE-accredited nanotechnology program in the U.S.

A nationally recognized leader in STEM and nanotechnology workforce development, Sam has secured over $1 million in grant funding and collaborated with national agencies including NIST and NIOSH. Sam’s commitment to equity, innovation, and academic excellence makes this individual a strong addition to the Compton College community.

Fun Fact: Sam enjoys biking, swimming, and watching classic movies!

 Vicente Bermudez, Student Services Advisor

We are excited to welcome Vicente Bermudez as the newest Student Services Advisor at Compton Community College District.  Vicente recently earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies from California State University, Los Angeles, and studied abroad at Tec de Monterrey in Querétaro, Mexico—experiences that have shaped a strong cross-cultural and equity-focused approach to student support.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Vicente brings diverse experience in education and student services. Previous roles include Physical Education Instructor and Site Coordinator, Autism Support Specialist, and Student Assistant at CSUDH’s Learning Center. Vicente has also held leadership positions in Sigma Lambda Beta, Tau Chapter, and actively volunteered in tutoring, organizing social justice fairs, and leading educational programs for youth in Mexico.

A strong commitment to community engagement, student success, and equity makes Vicente a valuable addition to the Compton College team.

Fun Fact: Vicente’s graduate studies deepened his dedication to educational equity and advocacy for underrepresented communities.

Our new team members bring extensive knowledge and professional experience and they are excited to join Compton College in its dedication to providing high-quality educational programs that contribute to student success.
