Donation Policy

Criteria for Donation

The Library welcomes donations in the form of:

textbooks newer than five years old
print books newer than five years old
Compton College yearbooks.

Materials NOT accepted:

advanced reader copies and galley proofs
periodicals (magazines, newspapers, journals)
Encyclopedias and reference book collections
yearbooks from other institutions
audiovisual materials (CDs, DVDs, VHS)
items of a personal nature

Condition

Materials must be clean and good repair without major physical damage, including rips, tears, cracks, loose binding, mold, bugs, and stains.

Usage

The Library reserves the right to use all donations as it sees fit, including addition into the collection, giveaway of items, and disposal.

How to Donate Items

Check that your items satisfy the criteria for donation specified in the Library's donation policy.
Bring your item(s) to the Circulation Desk for consideration.

A receipt for tax purposes is available from the Circulation Desk upon request. The Library cannot assign a monetary value to any donations.
