VP/CEO News

The close of the spring semester is a time to reflect on the academic year and celebrate the achievements of both ECC Compton Center students and the institution. Please join in congratulating all of ECC Compton Center’s scholars, including the 375 students who have met the requirements to graduate with an associate degree, and the 79 students who have earned a certificate.

The Commencement Ceremony on May 14 was the event of the year and we were honored to host Luz Herrera, assistant dean for clinical education, experiential learning and public service at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, as the keynote speaker. Also addressing her fellow graduates was Jannice Gamble, adult learner and single mother, who was selected as this year’s student speaker for the commencement ceremony.

This issue of The Messenger includes many student success stories including the student-scholars honored at the annual Academic Awards Tea; the 27 students who graduated with an associate of science degree in nursing at the recent pinning ceremony; student veteran Jorge Mora; and alumnus Alejandro Trujillo who graduates from UC Berkeley this month with a bachelor’s degree.

As we close this academic year highlighted by the achievement of some significant milestones, we would like to thank all faculty, staff and managers for being a part of ECC Compton Center’s student success.
