Tartar Football and Soccer Student-Athletes Honored

Tartar FootballEl Camino College Compton Center wrapped up the fall sports season with special recognition for several student-athletes from the Tartar football and soccer programs who were named to the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) and California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) teams.

The Tartar football team had three sophomore student-athletes recognized by the CCCAA Southern California Football Association American Division All-Mountain League. Maurice Simmons, middle linebacker, and Jeremiah Rideaux, punter, were honored as first team selections.  Brandon Ward, cornerback, was named to the second team. All three students plan to transfer to four-year universities in fall 2015. 

The CCCAA All-South Coast Conference soccer team recognized three members of the Tartar women’s soccer team. Freshman midfielder Crystal Rocha was named to the first team, while sophomore defender Kimberly Vargas was named to the second team, and freshman defender Jennifer Hernandez received an honorable mention.

The men’s soccer team also had members named to the all-conference team. Sophomore defender Martin Gonzalez made the first team and Edgar Ortiz-Barajas, also a sophomore defender, made the second team. Freshman forward Ulises Aldaz received an honorable mention.
