CCCD PresentationThe El Camino College Public Relations and Marketing Department was recently honored with two first-place awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) at its regional conference.

The NCMPR Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges. El Camino College Compton Center’s online newsletter, “The Messenger,” took top honors in the electronic newsletter category. In addition, the department received a second gold award for newly designed Compton Community College District presentation folder.

“The Messenger” is a completely redesigned newsletter created to consolidate and replace two former online publications into one comprehensive source for news and information. The purpose of “The Messenger is to inform faculty, staff and key stakeholders about news and events happening at ECC Compton Center, share student success stories, highlight student support programs and services offered on campus, and feature professional accomplishments of faculty members.

The Compton Community College District presentation folder was designed to capture the diversity of the student population and communities served by the district. It was created as part of the District’s branding program and is used to represent the district and El Camino College Compton Center to prospective students, the community, business and civic groups, as well as statewide organizations.

Forty-seven institutions submitted 338 entries for the Medallion Awards in various categories, making this year one of the most competitive ever for the NCMPR honors. The Medallion Awards are the only regional competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.
