Instructor's Bio:

Briefly, I served in many Information Technology and managerial business positions for over 40 years in both the private and public sectors. Some of the positions served were Data Processing Manager at Long Beach Community Hospital; Sales Manager for National Accounts, District Sales Manager for Vertical Markets, Tech Support Manager, and EDI/SCM and Enterprise Systems Business Consultant for General Electric Information Services. In the public sector I served as Director of MIS/Research and Planning, Director of Information Technology and for seven years, the Associate Dean of Information Technology at Compton Community College. I have taught Computer Information Systems and Microsoft Office certification, Business and Management classes in higher education as an adjunct and tenured faculty member for more than 25 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History with an East Asian Studies concentration from California State University at Dominguez Hills and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

The goal of this course is to prepare students for taking distance education classes.  This course covers the basics of taking an interactive, asynchronous distance education course via the internet or other computer instructional television based systems.  Use of e-mail, online class interactions such as groups, world wide web access, equipment needs and differences between online and onsite courses will be covered.
