Campus Community,

I want to provide you with an update on Compton College in terms of COVID-19. The Compton CCD Pandemic Outbreak - Emergency Operations Plan guides our response to the possible scenarios that may occur as the COVID-19 situation progresses. As of Sunday, March 29, 2020, at 2 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, there are a total of 5,763 positive cases and 135 deaths in California (including one non-California resident). For more information, go to www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Immunization/ncov2019.

Compton CCD is currently operating at Level Three - Moderate Infection Rate. Recent confirmed case(s) of a community member, and/or family member of student, staff, or faculty within the county. Compton College is currently offering alternative academic instruction and online student support services. The Compton College Pandemic Coordinators and members of the President/CEO Cabinet met today, and below is some important information.

Compton College Student Laptop Loan Program
The Compton College Student Laptop Loan Program began today. Of the 250 appointments scheduled for today, 154 students picked-up laptop computers. The next laptop computer distribution will occur on Friday, April 3, 2020. The students who did not pick-up their laptop computers today will receive another appointment for Friday, April 3, 2020. Special thanks to the Student Services Division staff who assisted with today's laptop computer disbursement.

Laptop computers are still available on a first-come-first-served basis to students who submit a Student Laptop Loan Program RSVP and are currently enrolled in spring 2020 courses at Compton College. If you have any questions about the laptop computer loan program, please email your questions to studentlife@compton.edu.

Excused Withdrawal Petitions and Student Refunds for Spring 2020
Last week, based on the Academic Senate's recommendation, we updated Administrative Regulation 4320 - Grading and Academic Record Symbols to include Excused Withdrawal (EW). For the spring 2020 semester, all Compton College students that have dropped after Monday, March 9, 2020, will receive an automatic EW.  Compton College students that receive an automatic EW for spring 2020, before Friday, May 15, 2020, will receive a refund for their course enrollment fees. Also, Compton College students who purchased spring 2020 parking permits will receive a refund.
