Compton College remains operating at Level Four - Severe Infection Rate, according to the Compton CCD Pandemic Outbreak - Emergency Operations Plan. The Compton College Pandemic Coordinators and members of the President/CEO Cabinet met today, and below is some the following updates:
Reporting Protocol for Positive COVID-19 Cases
If you learn of a positive COVID-19 test result (or presumed positive after an exam by a medical professional) and the individual has been on campus within the past two weeks, please report this information to the Compton College Pandemic Coordinators immediately by sending an email to email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, and firstname.lastname@example.org. To ensure the medical privacy of the individual, please do not discuss the identity of the individual with anyone.
Per the Los Angeles County Health Order issued April 1, 2020, all individuals who have been diagnosed with or are likely to have COVID-19 must take immediate actions, including self-isolation and notifying all of their closes contacts. If District employees learn of positive COVID-19 testing involving an essential employee, or current Compton College student, we request you volunteer this information to the Pandemic Coordinators as a public health safety measure.
When reporting a positive or presumed-positive COVID-19 case to the Pandemic Coordinators, please provide the following information: the student or employee's full name, Compton College student ID, if applicable, date of the test, when and where they were last on campus.
As always, all Compton College students and employees are asked to follow the directions given by public health officials and elected officials during this outbreak. This includes obeying the stay-at-home orders from Los Angeles County and the State of California, following correct social distancing practices, and continuing to maintain proper hygiene.
Please follow the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) "Steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 if you are sick" guidelines (PDF) if you are not feeling well and are experiencing the following symptoms - a fever, cough or shortness of breath.

At recent meetings and in many of the Compton College COVID-19 Updates, I have been discussing unemployment. Last week, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness provided me with the COVID-19, Unemployment, and Forecasting Enrollment at Compton College Report, which is available here. At last night's Board of Trustees meeting, the board expressed interest in Compton College developing a program to support future students who are receiving unemployment benefits. We will be adding this program to the Compton College 2024 Enrollment Management Plan. If you have any recommendations for this program, please forward them to Elizabeth Martinez, Vice President of Student Services at email@example.com.
As we prepare for summer and fall enrollment, I wanted you to know that we moved the start of registration from Tuesday, May 19, 2020, to Tuesday, May 26, 2020. We will also be mailing the summer and fall class schedules to all Compton Community College District residents. Furthermore, utilizing our COVID-19 budget, we will provide a targeted media campaign for summer and fall enrollment.
Finally, I want to thank all of you who participated in yesterday's Tartar Talks meeting. The Tartar Talks event was well attended, and the contributions from you during the meeting are greatly appreciated. I have decided to schedule another virtual Tartar Talks for Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.
