Tartar Village Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

The Compton Community College District hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Tartar Village on August 15.

The $3.6 million Tartar Village provides temporary instructional buildings located in the practice football/soccer field area during construction of the all-new Instructional Building 1 (which will replace the current Row Buildings). The new facility for the cosmetology program that opened last fall is also located in Tartar Village.

Tartar Village includes 14 instructional classrooms, five modular office buildings, two separate restroom buildings and one computer lab. There is also space to add two instructional labs and five classroom buildings in the future. This project is supported by Measure CC bond funds.

Compton College students first occupied the Tartar Village classrooms beginning with the fall 2017 semester.

Additional facilities projects either completed since 2016 or in progress include:

  • Music Building North Wing Renovation: The $3 million Music Building renovation project included the rejuvenation of a multi-purpose building equipped for music, plays, dance recitals, and CCCD board meetings. Completed: July 2017
