The annual Nursing Pinning Ceremony was held on June 7 to honor 25 students who completed their associate of science degree in nursing. The traditional ceremony recognized the hard work and determination of this year's graduates.

Nursing graduate Erik Hernandez chose to attend Compton College because of the small class sizes, the "family" atmosphere and the schedule flexibility with evening, online and weekend class offerings. "I chose to pursue a career in nursing because I had worked as a volunteer at California Hospital and spent most of my time with the nurses and the nurse practitioners," said Hernandez. "From that experience, I realized I liked what they did and how the nurses were hands-on with the patients. I was drawn to how the patients progressed from being super sick to healthy and being discharged. I really want to help others restore their health."
