ECC Compton Center Welcomes Nine New Faculty Members

Nine new full-time faculty members have been hired at El Camino College Compton Center for the 2014-15 academic year. These instructors, who join ECC Compton Center in the mission to provide high-quality educational programs, bring extensive knowledge and professional experience, helping to contribute to student success.

Judy Crozier
Judy CrozierEnglish instructor. Judy Crozier received a master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in screenwriting and producing from the University of Wyoming. She has been an adjunct instructor at El Camino College and El Camino College Compton Center. She also works with ACE Tutoring Services, where she provides individual tutoring through the No Child Left Behind program. She is a member of the College Reading and Learning Association and the National Association for Developmental Education.

Roza Ekimyan
Roza EkimyanHuman Development instructor. Roza Ekimyan earned an Ed.D. in higher education, a master’s degree in education counseling psychology, and a bachelor’s degree in general education with an emphasis in English and American literature all from the University of Southern California. Prior to joining ECC Compton Center, she was the California Community Colleges Success Network (3CSN) Los Angeles regional coordinator at the Los Angeles Community College District. She has also served as an adjunct instructor at Los Angeles Peirce College and Santa Monica College, as well as the basic skills initiative coordinator at Los Angeles Mission College.

Jennifer Knox Hill
Jennifer Know HillEnglish instructor. Jennifer Knox Hill received her master’s degree in English and creative writing from California State University, Long Beach; and a bachelor’s degree in English, with a Spanish minor, from the University of California Irvine. Before becoming a full-time faculty member at ECC Compton Center, she was an English instructor at El Camino College and Cypress College. She has also worked as a technical curriculum writer and editor for Futurekids, Inc. and an editor-in-chief of Homebuyers Guide.

 

Vanessa Madrid
Vanessa MadridArt instructor. Vanessa Madrid earned a master’s degree in sculpture and installation from Claremont Graduate University, and a bachelor’s degree in applied design of textiles and metals, while receiving a minor in biology, at California State University, San Diego. Prior to joining ECC Compton Center, she taught several different art classes for the Riverside Community College District, as well as serving on the faculty at Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif. and Mt. San Jacinto College’s Menifee campus.

 

Pamela Richardson
Pamela RichardsonWelding instructor. Pamela Richardson obtained a master’s degree in educational leadership from National University, and a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. She has served as an adjunct instructor of welding at El Camino College Compton Center and Rio Hondo College. She also works as a welding instructor at the Huntington Park-Bell Community Adult School. She is a member of Women Educators, American Business Women’s Association, American Welding Society SENSE Program, and the American Association of University Women.

Malinni Roeun
Malinni RoeunMathematics instructor. Malinni Roeun earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction in higher education from Argosy University in Los Angeles. She received both a master’s degree in applied mathematics and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the California State University, Long Beach. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member at ECC Compton Center, she was an instructor and Math Academy coordinator at El Camino College. She has also taught at Coastline Community College, Golden West College and Orange Coast College.

Gerson Valle
Gerson ValleMathematics instructor. Gerson Valle earned both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from California State University, Long Beach. Prior to joining ECC Compton Center, he was an adjunct instructor of mathematics at Cypress Community College, El Camino College, and Glendale Community College. He has taught a hybrid arithmetic/pre-algebra class to adult learners, and has experience working with the Special Resource Center to accommodate students with learning disabilities. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Valerie Woodward
Valerie WoodwardEnglish instructor. Valerie Woodward earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Riverside, a master’s degree in comparative literature from San Francisco State University, and double bachelor’s degrees in English literature and Japanese studies from Wellesley College in Maryland. Prior to joining ECC Compton Center, she served as an adjunct instructor at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Woodward has also been a lecturer at CSUF and an instructor of advanced writing at the University of Maryland.

 

Phillip Yagmai
Welding instructor. Phillip Yagmai has completed courses in the mechanical engineering master’s degree program at California State University State of Los Angeles. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Nebraska. Previously, he was an adjunct instructor at El Camino College Compton Center, and taught at Long Beach City College. He has also served as a consultant and instructor at the Center for Applied Competitive Technology in Hawthorne, Calif. Yagmai is a Certified SolidWorks Professional and also earned certification from the National Institute of Metal Working Skills.
