Compton College's Nursing program provides a viable career path for those interested in health care and will help replenish the supply of qualified health care providers needed in the workforce. According to the Institute of Medicine, by 2020 nearly half of all registered nurses will reach traditional retirement age. By 2030, the United States will need an extra 3.5 million formal health care providers just to maintain the existing ratio of providers to the total population.
