Priority Registration for Local High School Students

Priority RegistrationIn an effort to help area high school seniors get the college classes they need for summer and fall 2014 semesters, El Camino College has a policy that gives them a head start on registering. Graduating seniors who follow the necessary steps to enroll will be able to register, a few days before the rest of the students.

As part of a campaign to alert high school seniors of this new policy, students graduating from a high school served by the Compton Community College District recently received a postcard outlining the steps to enroll.

It only takes four easy steps to apply online and enroll at El Camino College Compton Center:

  1. Apply Online Today – Summer/Fall 2014 applications are currently being accepted online at www.compton.edu (www.ccc.apply.org)

  2. Prepare – Practice tests are available online at http://www.compton.edu/studentservices/supportservices/assessmentcenter/. All new students are required to participate in an Orientation session to become familiar with the college and its resources. Students are asked to visit the Assessment Center or the Counseling Office for Orientation dates and times, as well as to sign up. New Student Orientations are available Monday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and noon, and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

  3. Test  – Testing must be completed before registering for classes. The Assessment/Testing Center is open Monday through Friday and the Testing Center phone number is 310-900-1600, Ext. 2830. Assessment Center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

  4. Plan – All new students are required to attend orientation and meet with a counselor to develop an Educational Plan. To schedule a counseling appointment, visit www.compton.edu and click on MyECC.

Early registration is available to 2014 high school graduates living within the Compton Community College District including: Compton, Lynwood, Paramount and Willowbrook, as well as portions of Athens, Bellflower, Carson, Downey, Dominguez, Lakewood, North Long Beach and Southgate. High school graduates must complete the four easy steps to enroll at ECC Compton Center before March 31, 2014.

Representatives from El Camino College Compton Center will be visiting in-district high schools during the next few months to assist students with the priority registration process, as well as enable them to take the assessment test and complete orientation.
