El Camino College Mission Statement:
The mission of El Camino College is to meet the educational needs of our diverse community and ensure student success by offering quality comprehensive educational opportunities.
My Bio:
I graduated in 1994 and I am a proud bilingual alumna of Compton Community College. After my graduation from Compton College, I was a tutor and then became an Instructional Associate in the Business Division in 1996. In 1998, I was appointed to my most cherished occupation... a college instructor; while I continued to pursue my education. I earned my BS in Information Systems in 2001 and my MBA/IS in Information Systems in 2003. For an impoverished Latina from El Salvador, this was a remarkable journey after earning my high school diploma from Paramount Adult High School in 1991.
In 1999, I became certified as Microsoft Office User Specialist in Word and Excel and taught those Microsoft certification courses. The courses currently being taught are part of the Business A.S. Degree and Certificates of Achievement.
In addition to the aforementioned, I am equally proud that while I was a student at Compton Community College, I was a member of Phi Beta Lambda, PBL, and represented the college for several years in National PBL competitions.
