Welcome to El Camino College Compton Center, home of the Tartars!

We encourage new students to inquire about the opportunities to participate in our intercollegiate athletic program. We currently offer 12 sports (six for men and six for women) staffed with outstanding coaches whose main focus is on the success of student-athletes. The Compton Center is currently recruiting for its first Women's Volleyball season, set to begin competition in fall of 2016!

Our teams compete in the highly-regarded South Coast Conference – except for our football team, which is a member of the Southern California Football Association.

Mission Statement

The mission of Tartar Athletics is to provide an equitable opportunity for all students to participate in Intercollegiate Athletics while succeeding in obtaining their academic or vocational goals. The Tartar Athletic Program asserts that athletic participation helps promote leadership development, time management skills, sportsmanship, positive role modeling, peer group interaction, determination, risk-taking and perseverance. The Athletic Department strongly endorses a comprehensive program that encourages the development of each student-athlete's values and character, and sees its activities as an integral part of campus life, and as a positive aspect of the overall educational experience for its participants.

Athletic Program Philosophy

It is the philosophy of the Compton Educational Center to strive to maintain the optimum level of teaching and coaching, as well as support from the community, the Board of Trustees, the District, and the College administration, faculty, and students. We will also strive to coordinate and control intercollegiate athletic competition so that the result will be compatible with the State Athletic Code, the South Coast Conference Constitution and By-Laws, and the highest standards of conduct. The Compton Educational Center aim’s to provide the experiences of all participants to reflect dignity and exemplify competition at its finest.
