Message from the Provost/CEO
At my April 19 Tartar Talks, I reviewed important demographics and educational trends that will have significant impact on enrollment at the Compton Center. It is imperative that this institution change and grow to remain successful and meet the educational needs of the communities served by the District.
This data has been used to shape the new mission, vision and strategic initiatives for ECC Compton Center and the CCCD. In my Tartar Talks presentation, I outlined my vision and action items in the areas of instruction, support services, facilities, and fiscal stability - all targeted at increasing enrollment. 2016-17 Overarching Priorities
The Compton Community College District has established its 2016-2017 Overarching Priorities, which are linked to the 2015-2020 El Camino College Strategic Initiatives. They are similar to the CCCD 2015-2016 Overarching Priorities with some goals being expanded to build off the progress made last year toward supporting the strategic initiatives.
- Increase Student Enrollment
- Support Accreditation
- Ensure Coordination of Student Success Activities in Support of Compton Center's Institutional Effectiveness Outcomes
- Develop and Enhance Partnerships
- Continue to Implement the Planning and Budget Process
- Improve Facilities
- Enhance Communication with All Stakeholders
- Expand Professional Development opportunities
ECC Compton Center Accreditation Update

second forum is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 in the ECC Compton Center Student Lounge.
The recently updated "Process to Accreditation" document is available here.
Recommendations were made to improve both the Institutional Standing and Institutional Effectiveness committees for the 2016-17 academic year. This March, the CCCD finalized Administrative Regulation 2511: Council and Committee Structure and we will continue to provide information to improve your understanding of how the Governance Structure operates at the District.
My recommendations for improvements to the Institutional Standing and Effectiveness committees are outlined in the documents listed below:
The implementation of these recommendations will also help strengthen the response on the Governance Structure portion of the Self-Evaluation Report for ECC Compton Center.
