Compton College Dual Enrollment
As mentioned in the President/CEO Message- September 3, 2020, Compton College has fostered relationships with our K-12 partners over the past five years to increase dual enrollment with Compton, Lynwood, and Paramount unified school districts. Recently, the Community College Research Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, released the Dual Enrollment Playbook: A Guide to Equitable Acceleration for Students. The playbook identifies five principles and the supporting strategies and practices through which community colleges and K-12 leaders can advance equity in high-quality dual enrollment:
- Set a shared vision and goals that prioritize equity.
- Expand equitable access.
- Provide advising and supports that ensure equitable student outcomes.
- Provide high-quality instruction that builds students' competence and confidence.
- Organize teams and develop relationships to maximize potential.
The Dual Enrollment Playbook: A Guide to Equitable Acceleration for Students document is available here. Dual Enrollment is one of the strategies for enrollment growth at Compton College. It is very challenging; however, it is very rewarding. With funding from the College Futures Foundation, we are currently working on the Compton College Dual Enrollment Handbook, which should be available sometime this spring.
This weekend, I read an article "The Pandemic Depression Is Over. The Pandemic Recession Has Just Begun." When you have a moment, please read this article.
